Tannirbhavi Beach (also spelled Tannirbavi) is a peaceful, clean golden-sand beach located about 12 km north of Mangaluru city centre in Karnataka, on the northern side of the Gurupura River near the Arabian Sea, and it’s the second most popular beach in Mangalore after Panambur Beach.

Its name comes from the Tulu words “Tanni” (water) and “Bhavi” (well), and the beach is celebrated for its calm atmosphere, soft sand, lush tree-lined shore, and spectacular sunset views over the Arabian Sea, making it ideal for relaxed family outings, photography and long walks. The beach is well-maintained by the Mangaluru City Corporation and offers basic amenities such as lifeguards on duty during the day, clean toilets, a parking lot, concrete benches, and small eateries, while also being in the process of being developed as India’s 13th Blue Flag beach.

Nearby attractions include the nearby Tannirbhavi Tree Park, a 15-acre botanical garden showcasing medicinal and endemic Western Ghats trees, and Sultan Battery, a tourist spot with a watchtower and check dam, which can be reached from the beach via a scenic 5–7 minute ferry ride across the Gurupura River. The best time to visit is from October to February when the weather is pleasant, and the beach is generally open from around 6:00 AM to 7:00–10:00 PM, with the best experience during evening hours for sunsets.
