Tapeley Park Gardens is a privately owned, longstanding garden and parkland set on a hilltop between Bideford and Barnstaple in North Devon, England, overlooking the River Torridge estuary and the coast toward Lundy Island.

The site combines formal and informal elements, including historic Italian terraces, a lake, ponds, old woodland, kitchen and permaculture gardens, and open fields, all laid out over several acres of rolling landscape. The house and Italian terraces were developed in the 19th and early 20th centuries, with advice from notable gardeners adding to the garden’s layered, experimental feel that blends traditional design with environmental planting.

Today the gardens are open to the public several days a week as a quiet, family‑ and dog‑friendly destination, with a tearoom, shop, picnic areas, and seasonal events, making it a popular spot for walking, photography, and enjoying Devon’s coastal views.
