Thotlakonda Beach is a serene, hidden gem near Visakhapatnam (Vizag) in Andhra Pradesh, located about 15 km from the city on the coast near Bheemili Beach, and is best known for its unique blend of tranquil natural beauty and ancient Buddhist heritage rather than typical beach activities.

The beach gets its name from the nearby Thotlakonda Buddhist Complex, a 2,000-year-old monastic site on a 128-meter-high hill that overlooks the Bay of Bengal and was a flourishing Nikaya Buddhist center during the 2nd century BCE to 2nd century CE, thriving on brisk Roman trade and religious missions.

The Telugu name Toṭlakoṇḍa means "hill of cisterns," referring to the rock-cut cisterns carved into the hillock, and excavations at the site have revealed stupas, viharas, chaityas, terracotta tiles, stucco decorations, sculptured panels, mini-stupa models, Buddha footprints, Brahmi inscriptions, and Roman silver coins that indicate ancient foreign trade connections.
