Tobi Island, also known as Hatohobei, is one of the most remote islands in Palau, located in the country’s Southwest Islands far from the main population centers.

This tiny coral island is surrounded by a fringing reef and is known for its isolation, natural beauty, and strong cultural identity. The island is home to the Tobian people, who maintain unique traditions, language, and customs that are distinct from those found elsewhere in Palau. Although most people of Tobian heritage now live in Koror, they continue to maintain close ties to their ancestral island and cultural heritage.

Tobi Island is also renowned for its pristine marine environment, with healthy coral reefs, abundant fish life, and largely untouched coastal ecosystems. Its remoteness has helped preserve both its natural surroundings and traditional way of life, making it one of the most unique and culturally significant places in Palau.
