Tzfat, also known as Safed, is a historic city in northern Israel’s Galilee region, renowned as one of Judaism’s four holy cities. It is famous for its deep spiritual and mystical heritage, particularly as the center of Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism) during the 16th century, attracting great scholars like Rabbi Isaac Luria and Rabbi Joseph Karo.

The city has had an almost continuous Jewish presence since ancient times and is known for its two historic cemeteries, old synagogues, and cobblestone streets painted in the distinctive "Tzfat blue," symbolizing spirituality.

Beyond its religious significance, Tzfat was also Israel’s art capital in the mid-20th century, hosting a vibrant artists’ colony that still thrives today. Despite periods of decline due to wars, conflicts, and natural disasters, Tzfat remains a small city rich in cultural, religious, and artistic life, drawing visitors for its mystical atmosphere, beautiful mountain views, and historical sites.
