Via Dolorosa
Old City, Jerusalem, Israel
Via Dolorosa, meaning “Way of Suffering” in Latin, is a narrow, winding street in the Old City of Jerusalem believed by many Christians to be the route Jesus walked on his way to crucifixion, from the site of his sentencing to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
The path runs about 600 meters through the bustling Christian Quarter, marked by 14 stations that commemorate key moments in Jesus’ final journey, with the last five stations located inside the church itself. Today it is a major pilgrimage route where visitors and religious groups regularly stop at each station to pray, reflect, and retrace the traditional steps of the Passion of Christ.
