Wasserschloß Glatt
Sulz am Neckar, Germany, Germany
Wasserschloß Glatt is one of the best-preserved moated castle complexes in Baden-Württemberg, located in the village of Glatt, a district of Sulz am Neckar in southern Germany.
Originally a medieval castle built by the Lords of Neuneck in the 14th century, it was transformed between 1533 and 1547 into one of the earliest and oldest Renaissance castles in southern Germany under Reinhard von Neuneck. The four-winged castle with its characteristic water moats is among the few remaining complete moated castles in the region.
After extensive renovation from 1998 to 2001, it became the Kultur- und Museumszentrum Schloss Glatt (Culture and Museum Center), housing four museums: a castle museum, a nobility museum, a peasants' museum, and the Schloss Glatt gallery, where visitors can see historical information, knight armor, and learn about medieval peasant life.
