Weißes Schloss
Weidenbach, Bavaria, Germany, Germany
The Weißes Schloss (White Castle) in Triesdorf, part of Weidenbach in Bavaria, was built from 1682 onwards and gradually expanded during the 18th century. It served as the main summer and hunting residence of the Margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach within the larger Triesdorf palace and park complex. Unlike many grand royal palaces, the castle was designed with a relatively simple appearance that reflected the rural and relaxed character of Triesdorf, which the margraves used as a retreat from court life in Ansbach. Today, the Weißes Schloss is an important historic landmark within the former Triesdorf summer residence. The surrounding estate contains many preserved baroque buildings and now serves educational purposes, with parts of the complex used by institutions connected to the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf university campus.
