Welford Park
Welford, England, United Kingdom
Welford Park, located in the village of Welford near Newbury in Berkshire, England, is a Grade I listed country house and estate owned by the same family since 1618, originally a monastic grange from Anglo-Saxon times that became Henry VIII's hunting lodge after the Dissolution of the Monasteries.
Remodeled around 1700 by architect Thomas Archer with Ionic columns and further altered in 1840, it features specimen trees planted by Charles Eyre, formal gardens, and a 4-acre beech wood famous for its spectacular annual snowdrop displays that attract thousands of visitors each late winter.
The private working farm and family home also hosts summer open-air theatre, autumn Spectacle of Light events, and served as the original filming location for The Great British Bake Off, blending sustainable farming with public seasonal access.
