Wierzchosławice is a village in southern Poland's Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in Tarnów County along the Dunajec River terrace, serving as the seat of Gmina Wierzchosławice with Bronze Age traces from 1700–700 BCE and first written mentions around 1123–1125.

Named after 12th-century knight Wierzchosław of the Sulima clan, it grew as a key settlement amid Wiślanie tribe lands later tied to Wojnicz castellany, fostering German-law colonization by the 13th–14th centuries under noble families like Awdańcy and Gryfowie along Kraków-to-Hungary routes.

Famous as the birthplace of three-time Polish Prime Minister Wincenty Witos (1874–1945), it features his preserved log homestead museum with ethnographic exhibits, a Neoclassical parish church built 1811–1818, and 19th-century developments like rail bridges, cooperatives, and a fire brigade amid Austrian Galician rule post-1772.
