Zamek Książąt Oleśnickich
Oleśnica, Poland, Poland
Zamek Książąt Oleśnickich is a Renaissance castle in Oleśnica, southwestern Poland's Lower Silesian Voivodeship, originally built in the 14th century by Duke Konrad I on the site of a 13th-century stronghold with a prominent cylindrical tower and defensive walls.
Under the Podiebrad dynasty in the mid-16th century, Princes Jan and Karol II oversaw major reconstructions, adding east and south wings, Renaissance arcades, a grand staircase, and decorative facades to transform it into a luxurious residence.
Serving as the seat of Oleśnica dukes until the 19th century, it now functions as a cultural center with preserved interiors, hosting events amid its Gothic-Renaissance architecture overlooking the city.
