Zamek w Krapkowicach
Krapkowice, Poland, Poland
Zamek w Krapkowicach, located in Krapkowice in southwestern Poland's Opole Voivodeship, dates back to the 13th century as a medieval stronghold predating the town's 1275 city rights granted by Duke Władysław of Opole.
After passing to Margrave George Hohenzollern in 1532 and sold by Emperor Rudolf II in 1582 to Count Jan Joachim von Redern, the family replaced the old fortress with a grand late-Renaissance residence on a quadrilateral plan enclosing an internal courtyard, completed in 1678 as marked on the gate.
The imposing structure featured a high ground floor, two upper floors, a mirrored summer dining room, arcaded cloisters around the courtyard leading to vineyards, and an adjacent conservatory with glazed walls connected to gardens and a park. Now serving public functions after centuries of noble ownership, it stands as a key historic landmark overlooking the Oder River.
