Zamek w Krasiczynie
Krasiczyn, Poland, Poland
Zamek w Krasiczynie, located in southeastern Poland's Podkarpackie Voivodeship, is a prime example of Renaissance-Mannerist architecture built at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries by the Krasicki family, starting with Stanisław Krasicki who constructed a quadrilateral fortress around 1580 on earlier 16th-century foundations.
Expanded by his son Marcin Krasicki into a luxurious defensive residence by 1633, it features a compact square plan with four distinctive corner bastion-towers named Boska (Divine), Papieska (Papal), Królewska (Royal), and Szlachecka (Noble), enclosing an arcaded courtyard with sgraffito-decorated facades, ornamental attics, and a chapel tower.
Designed as a palazzo in fortezza blending Italian influences with Polish szlachecka traditions, it hosted kings Sigismund III Vasa and Władysław IV, survived fires and wars remarkably intact, and was designated a Historic Monument in 2018, now functioning as a museum hotel amid a historic park.
