Zatonie
Poland, Poland
Zatonie is a historic village now part of Zielona Góra in western Poland's Lubusz Voivodeship, first documented in 1305 as Martinivilla and originally owned by the von Kietlitz family until 1646.
A 17th-century Baroque palace, rebuilt in neoclassical style in 1842, became a cultural hub under Duchess Dorothea de Talleyrand-Périgord in the 19th century, surrounded by a landscape park designed by Peter Joseph Lenné featuring romantic ruins of a Gothic church, orangery, and expanded wetlands.
After post-WWII abandonment and decay, the site was revitalized as a public park in recent decades, drawing visitors to its evocative remnants amid fields and forests.
