Puerto Vallarta Ranks Among Canadians’ Top 10 International Destinations in 2026
Puerto Vallarta has secured a place among the 10 most popular international destinations for Canadian travelers in 2026, according to newly released data from online travel agency FlightHub. The ranking highlights the continued appeal of Mexico’s Pacific Coast resort city as Canadians increasingly look beyond domestic travel for leisure and family trips.
FlightHub’s 2026 Unveiled report analyzed booking data collected between October 2025 and August 2026 and compared it with the same period a year earlier. The report examines travel trends among Canadian travelers, including destination popularity, emerging hotspots, and the impact of major global events on travel demand.
According to the report, Delhi became the most popular international destination for Canadians in 2026, overtaking Tokyo, which held the top position the previous year. The top 10 international destinations were:
- Delhi, India
- Tokyo, Japan
- London, United Kingdom
- Cancún, Mexico
- Paris, France
- Manila, Philippines
- Lisbon, Portugal
- Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
- Hong Kong
- Rome, Italy

The original headline stating that Puerto Vallarta was among the top 10 destinations is accurate. However, available FlightHub rankings indicate the Mexican city placed eighth among Canadians’ most popular international destinations, rather than simply being listed without a specific rank.
Puerto Vallarta has long been a favorite destination for Canadian visitors, particularly during the winter travel season. The city combines beach tourism, outdoor activities, cultural attractions, and a well-established tourism infrastructure, making it a competitive alternative to destinations in Europe and Asia.
FlightHub’s rankings suggest that Puerto Vallarta continues to strengthen its position in the Canadian market. The destination moved up two places from the previous year’s ranking, reflecting sustained demand despite growing competition from other international destinations.
Mexico was the only country with two destinations in FlightHub’s top 10 list for Canadians, with Cancún ranking fourth and Puerto Vallarta eighth. The report also identified Puerto Vallarta as one of the most affordable international destinations for Canadian travelers, with average airfare among the lowest in the rankings analyzed by FlightHub.
The broader report found that Canadians increasingly favored international travel in 2026, while destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America benefited from rising demand.
While Puerto Vallarta remained a major draw, FlightHub identified Casablanca, Morocco, as the fastest-growing destination for Canadians, with bookings rising 250% compared with the previous year. Other high-growth destinations included Liberia in Costa Rica, Aruba, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, and Hanoi, Vietnam.
FlightHub Chief Executive Officer Henri Chelhot said the data reflects a transformative year for travel, influenced by major international events and evolving traveler preferences.
The latest data reinforces Puerto Vallarta’s status as one of Canada’s preferred overseas vacation destinations. As Canadian travelers continue to seek international experiences, the Jalisco resort city appears well-positioned to remain a key beneficiary of outbound travel demand heading into 2027.
