Eswatini
Eswatini, formerly Swaziland, is a small, landlocked kingdom in Southern Africa bordered by South Africa and Mozambique. The country extends about 110 miles from north to south and is roughly 80 miles wide at its largest point.
The population is estimated at 1,217,000 in 2025, and the country features diverse climates and terrains, ranging from mountainous highveld to lowveld savannas. Mbabane is the administrative capital, while the seat of the monarchy and parliament is in the area of Lobamba.
Eswatini became independent from British colonial rule in 1968 and switched its official name from Swaziland to Eswatini in 2018. The nation remains one of the few absolute monarchies in the world, ruled by King Mswati III.
