Guinea
Guinea is a coastal country in West Africa, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. Its capital city is Conakry. The country has an area of nearly 246,000 square kilometers and a population of about 14 million. French is the official language, and more than 24 indigenous languages are spoken.
Guinea is rich in natural resources, especially bauxite, and also has substantial gold and diamond deposits, but its economy relies largely on agriculture and mineral production. The country has a history of authoritarian rule and military coups, with democracy only being established in 2010. Most of the population practices Islam, and Guinea is divided into four natural regions: Maritime Guinea, the Fouta Djallon highlands, Upper Guinea, and the Forest Region.
The nation faces ongoing challenges, including poverty, corruption, and political instability.
