Boreč is a small village that forms part of the municipality of Velemín in the České středohoří (Central Bohemian Uplands) region of northern Czechia.

The area is best known for Borečský vrch (Boreč Hill), a volcanic hill rising to about 450 meters and surrounded by scenic countryside and protected natural habitats. Boreč Hill is famous for its unique geological phenomenon known as ventaroles, where warm, moist air escapes through cracks in the rocks during winter, creating the appearance of a “smoking mountain.”

This rare natural feature supports unusual plant life and has made the hill one of the most important natural monuments in the region. The hill and its surroundings have been protected since 1951 and are part of the Natura 2000 network. A nature trail leads visitors through the area, offering information about its geology, ecology, and panoramic views of the Central Bohemian Uplands.
