Verified Castle and Museum in Svätý Anton

Svätý Anton, Slovakia, Slovakia

Castle and Museum in Svätý Anton is a late Baroque-classicist manor house built in 1744 on the site of a 15th-century fortified castle near Banská Štiavnica in central Slovakia, originally serving as a noble residence and defensive outpost against Ottoman raids rebuilt by Italian architect Giulio Ferrari.

Expanded into a four-winged structure with a courtyard by Count Andrew Koháry, it later became a key seat for the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha-Koháry family, featuring symbolic architecture like 52 rooms and 365 windows amid an English landscape park.

Nationalized after World War II, it now operates as a Forestry, Wood, and Hunting Museum showcasing 18th-19th century noble life, hunting trophies, weapons, art, and natural history exhibits in preserved interiors.
