Castle Strakonice
Strakonice, Strakonice 1, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Strakonice Castle is a historic Gothic castle in the center of Strakonice in southern Czechia, built around the late 12th or early 13th century by the Bavor family.
Part of it was later given to the Knights of St. John, and the complex was expanded and rebuilt in Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles over time. Today, it is one of the town’s main landmarks and serves as a museum and cultural site, with exhibits on local history, folk traditions, weapons, motorcycles, and more. A highlight is the tower Rumpál, which offers views over the town and surrounding area.
