Dračí Hrádok
Stupava, Slovakia, Slovakia
Dračí Hrádok, also known as Dragon Castle, is the ruin of a small medieval fortress perched on a prominent ridge of Úboč hill at about 370 meters above sea level in the southern Little Carpathians near Borinka, close to Stupava in Slovakia's Bratislava region. Built in the second half of the 13th century likely on royal initiative, it guarded a nearby trade route through the mountains and featured a large square tower roughly 10x10 meters with walls up to 2.5 meters thick, protected by a rock-cut moat, steep slopes, and earth ramparts. The site was probably destroyed by fire during the Hussite invasions in the early 15th century, leaving mainly tower remnants overgrown with vegetation today, and it serves as a popular, accessible hiking spot just a short, marked trail from Borinka.
