Friedland Castle
Frýdlant, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Friedland Castle, also known as Frýdlant Castle, is a major historic site in northern Czechia near the town of Frýdlant.
It began as a medieval Gothic fortress in the 13th century and was later expanded into a Renaissance chateau, so today it combines two different architectural styles in one complex. The castle is famous for its well-preserved interiors and for being one of the earliest castle museums open to the public in Central Europe, with access dating back to 1801.
It is now one of the best-known landmarks in the Liberec Region and is closely tied to the history of important noble families such as the Wallensteins and Clam-Gallas.
