Hrad Biely Kameň
Svätý Jur, Slovakia, Slovakia
Hrad Biely Kameň is a Gothic castle ruin perched on a hill above the town of Svätý Jur in western Slovakia's Little Carpathians, built around 1270-1295 by the counts of Svätý Jur and Pezinok shortly after the 1241 Tatar invasion.
Originally featuring a residential tower, palace, farm buildings, and defensive walls with a dry moat, it was expanded in the 14th century into a fortified complex with an outer bailey, multiple towers, a Gothic chapel, and protective ditches plus ramparts on its vulnerable western side.
Occupied by Habsburg forces in the 1280s and later changing hands amid noble feuds, it was destroyed during Ottoman wars in 1663 and quarried for local stone, leaving remnants of walls, vaults, and terrain features now under volunteer restoration since 2020.
