It was founded in the 13th century, later rebuilt in Gothic and Renaissance style, and then fell into decline after the 17th century, leaving the romantic remains seen today. The site is known for its tower, surviving palace ruins, and wide views over the surrounding landscape. It is open to visitors seasonally and is one of the best-known castle ruins in Moravia.
