Hrad Holumnica
Holumnica, Slovakia, Slovakia
Hrad Holumnica in Holumnica, Slovakia, is a ruined Gothic-Renaissance fortified structure, likely built at the turn of the 15th-16th century on a hill behind the village, possibly by the Berzeviczy, Ujházy, or Görgey families, though no direct records confirm its founders. Featuring a square layout with three-story perimeter walls, loophole embrasures for defense, and remnants of Renaissance gable attics, it served as an early residential tower without towers. Abandoned in the 17th century for a more comfortable manor in the village, the site is undergoing stabilization and archaeological research as one of Slovakia's youngest Renaissance buildings.
