Hrad Korlátka
Slovakia, Slovakia
Hrad Korlátka, also known as Korlátsky hrad, is a 13th-century ruin perched above Cerová village in Slovakia's Little Carpathians, built to guard the vital Czech Road trade route linking Bohemia and Hungary. Likely a royal foundation first possibly mentioned in 1289 under noble Ugrin, it passed through powerful hands like Matúš Čák Trenčiansky in the early 14th century, King Sigismund of Luxembourg granting it to ally Stibor of Stiboricz in 1394, and later figures including Hussite captains and the Ratold family. Abandoned by the mid-18th century after Kuruc occupation in 1704 during anti-Habsburg uprisings, its remnants include a rare cylindrical tower fragment, palace walls, fortifications, and a well-preserved forecourt farm building.
