Hrad Kuchyňa near the village of Kuchyňa in Slovakia's Little Carpathians is a little-known 14th-century Gothic ruin, likely built by local counts from Svätý Jur and Pezinok to control strategic hilltop routes, with no surviving written records of its original name or history. Its oval core features remnants of two sturdy stone towers—each roughly 4x4 meters internally with 2-meter-thick walls—used for both defense and living quarters, evidenced by decorative roof tiles suggesting wealthy interiors, surrounded by vanished outer walls and possible farm buildings. Abandoned by 1543 after its noble owners died out and lands merged with Plavecký Hrad, the site faded into obscurity, leaving only subtle stone fragments and earthworks amid forested slopes today.
