Hrad Vízmburk
Havlovice, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Hrad Vízmburk is a medieval castle ruin near Havlovice in the Hradec Králové Region of Czechia, standing on a rocky spur above the Úpa River.
It was built in the 13th century, probably by Tas of the Třmen family, and later became abandoned and buried over time. The ruins were rediscovered and excavated in the 20th century, which is why the site is sometimes called the “East Bohemian Pompeii”. Today it is a protected cultural monument and a popular stop for visitors walking the historic route through the area.
