It stands on the site of an older 15th-century fortress and was rebuilt in the 18th century by Princess Anna Maria Franziska of Tuscany; today, it is undergoing major reconstruction and is generally closed to the public, though it has historically included a chapel, tower, park, and a connecting passage to the church.
