Kärnäkoski Fortress is a well-preserved 18th century bastion fortress located in Savitaipale, southeastern Finland.

It was built by the Russian Empire between 1791 and 1793 under the direction of General Alexander Suvorov as part of a defensive network designed to protect Saint Petersburg and guard the border with Sweden. Strategically positioned between lakes and important transportation routes, the fortress controlled regional traffic and served as a base for the Russian Saimaa fleet.

Its design follows the French bastion style, adapted to the local landscape with distinctive earthworks, walls, and defensive structures. After Finland became part of the Russian Empire in 1809, the fortress lost much of its military importance and was eventually abandoned. Today, it is a largely restored historical site and a popular destination for visitors interested in Finnish history, military architecture, and the beautiful natural scenery of the Saimaa region.
