Kroměříž Castle & Gardens

Zlín Region, Czech Republic (Czechia)

---

Kroměříž Castle & Gardens, located in the Zlín Region of the Czech Republic, is one of the country's finest historical and cultural landmarks.

The complex includes the magnificent Archbishop’s Castle, the landscaped Castle Garden, and the beautifully designed Flower Garden, all of which were recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. Originally established as a residence of the bishops and later archbishops of Olomouc, the castle evolved from a medieval fortress into an elegant Baroque palace. Its richly decorated interiors, extensive art collections, library, and historical importance make it one of the most significant monuments in Moravia.

The surrounding gardens are renowned for their beauty and design. The formal Flower Garden is considered one of Europe’s best-preserved Baroque gardens, while the larger Castle Garden features ponds, rare trees, ornamental structures, and scenic walking paths. Together, the castle and gardens create a remarkable example of European aristocratic architecture and landscape design.
