Lilongwe Wildlife Centre

Lilongwe, Central Region, Malawi

---

Lilongwe Wildlife Centre, located in Lilongwe in Malawi’s Central Region, is a unique urban nature reserve and the country’s only accredited wildlife sanctuary.

Managed by the Lilongwe Wildlife Trust, it combines wildlife conservation, environmental education, and recreation within a large area of protected forest in the heart of the capital. The centre is known for rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing injured, orphaned, and confiscated wild animals, while also protecting one of the last remaining natural forest areas in the region.

Visitors can explore walking trails, an elevated boardwalk, birdwatching spots, and riverine woodland that supports monkeys, birds, and other native wildlife. Beyond its natural beauty, Lilongwe Wildlife Centre plays an important role in conservation, education, and fighting wildlife crime in Malawi. Its combination of peaceful green spaces and meaningful conservation work makes it one of the most popular attractions in Lilongwe.
