Mansion F. Rakoczi II.
Borša, Slovakia, Slovakia
Mansion F. Rakoczi II. in Borša, Slovakia, is a Renaissance manor house serving as the birthplace of Francis II Rákóczi, the renowned leader of the early 18th-century anti-Habsburg uprising, born there on March 27, 1676.
Likely built on the site of a former moated castle using remnants from 1570 under noble families like the Zeleméry and later acquired by the Rákóczi lineage in 1616, it features an L-shaped original plan expanded to a U-shape during 1939-1943 modifications, including surviving Renaissance windows, doors, and a bastion tower remnant with a once-drawbridge entrance.
Now a well-preserved museum after 2021 reconstruction, it displays period-furnished rooms highlighting Rákóczi's life, his family's history, and the manor's past, set amid a park with a bronze bust and open to visitors year-round.
