Mellieha Bay (also called Għadira Bay) is Malta’s largest and longest sandy beach, stretching over 0.8 kilometers (about 800 meters) along the island’s northern tip near Ċirkewwa, where the ferry to Gozo departs.

Unlike most of Malta’s rocky coastline, it features fine golden sand and calm, shallow, warm waters that make it especially safe and popular for families with young children. The beach has earned a Blue Flag award for its excellent water quality, safety services, and lifeguard presence. It is divided by rocky outcrops into three sections, with the middle part being the most lively and offering watersports like windsurfing, kayaking, water skiing, canoeing, and banana rides. 

The weather is best from May to October, with sunny, dry summers and water temperatures reaching around 23°C. Just uphill from the beach is the picturesque hilltop village of Mellieħa, about a 15–20 minute walk away, featuring a historic Baroque parish church, the 16th‑century Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieħa (a pilgrimage site), and the pinkish 17th‑century Red Tower (St. Agatha’s Tower) that overlooks the bay.
