The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana (formerly Nur-Sultan) is the country's largest cultural institution, opened in 2014 on Independence Square to showcase over 175,000 artifacts spanning ancient nomad history to modern independence.
Its expansive halls feature the iconic "Golden Man" from the Issyk kurgan, Bronze and Iron Age tools, Scythian gold treasures, ethnographic yurts displaying traditional Kazakh life, and interactive exhibits on the Kazakh Khanate, Soviet era, and Astana's development with a massive city model.
Housed in a striking blue-glass and marble building covering 74,000 square meters, it includes research labs, contemporary art galleries, and multimedia displays, attracting visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed Mondays) for an immersive journey through Kazakhstan's heritage.
