Ruissalo is an island in the Archipelago Sea and a district of Turku, Finland, located just a few kilometres southwest of the city centre and easily reachable by bus or water bus.
It is known for having one of the largest deciduous–oak forests in Finland, with ancient oak trees, meadows, alder groves, and small bays that support rare plants, animals, and fungi. The island has a sparse residential population but is famous as a day‑trip destination with nature trails, historic wooden villas, and views of the surrounding archipelago; it also hosts the annual Ruisrock rock festival.
