Saly is a popular seaside resort and urban commune located in the Mbour department of Senegal's Thiès Region, situated on the Petite Côte coastline south of Dakar. Originally established as a Portuguese trading post known as Porto de Ale, it was redeveloped into a major tourist destination starting in the 1980s, growing rapidly into a vibrant resort town.

The area is known for its long sandy beaches lined with coconut palms, numerous hotels, villas, restaurants, and recreational facilities including water sports and a golf course. Saly attracts a mix of international tourists and local visitors, offering a lively atmosphere alongside opportunities for relaxation.

However, the rapid growth of mass tourism has brought challenges such as petty crime and social issues, prompting the creation of organizations to protect vulnerable groups like children. Despite this, Saly remains Senegal’s premier beach resort, blending natural beauty with developed amenities and cultural experiences.
