The Sokolov Museum is located in Sokolov Castle, a Renaissance-style chateau dating back to the late 17th century, and has been the seat of the museum since 1960. The museum’s exhibitions cover the history and nature of the Sokolov region with a particular focus on mining, which has been a major economic activity here.

Visitors can explore displays on local history from prehistoric times through to the 20th century, including industry, production of porcelain and glass, as well as the history of the Nostitz family who owned the castle from 1622 to 1945.

The museum also features archaeological and geological exhibits, and manages the nearby Jeroným Tin Mine, providing a unique look at the traditional mining culture and techniques of the area.
