Thrown Sand, known locally as Rana e Hedhun, is a striking natural beach destination on Albania's northern Adriatic coast near the town of Shëngjin and close to Shkodra.

Its name translates to "thrown sand," evoking the dramatic sand dunes that cascade from nearby mountains toward the sea, shaped by the strong Murlani winds over centuries, creating a rare, surreal landscape surrounded by pine trees and rugged peaks.

This relatively untouched spot offers pristine golden sands, clear azure waters ideal for swimming, panoramic coastal views, and opportunities for sandboarding or hiking, while serving as a protected habitat for loggerhead turtles and diverse wildlife.

Once a secluded military zone, it remains less crowded than typical Mediterranean beaches, blending relaxation, adventure, and ecological value, with easy access by a short drive or walk from Shëngjin.
