Torre Abdel aziz
Seville, Spain, Spain
Torre Abdel Aziz is a 12th-century hexagonal Almohad tower in central Seville, Spain, integrated into the urban fabric at Avenida de la Constitución and linked historically to the defensive walls extending from the Real Alcázar toward the Torre de Oro along the Guadalquivir River.
Built as part of the Alcázar's expansion for protection against invasions, it features a robust stone structure that increased in sides nearer the river—hexagonal here, octagonal at Torre de la Plata, and dodecagonal at Torre de Oro—now discreetly embedded in a 1919 building by Aníbal González.
Legend holds it as the site where Fernando III's Castilian banner first flew after the 1248 conquest, preserving its role in Seville's layered Islamic-Christian heritage despite modest size.
