Verified Underwater Sculpture Park

Molinière Bay, near St. George’s, Grenada

The Underwater Sculpture Park in Molinière Bay, near St. George’s, Grenada, is the world’s first underwater sculpture park, created in 2006 by British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor.

Located within the Molinière Beauséjour Marine Protected Area, it features dozens of submerged sculptures placed on the seabed, where they have gradually become part of the marine environment. The sculptures, including the famous Vicissitudes circle of children holding hands, serve as both works of art and artificial reefs that encourage coral growth and attract marine life.

The park was designed to support marine conservation while reducing pressure on nearby natural reefs damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. Accessible by snorkeling, scuba diving, or glass-bottom boat tours, the park offers a unique blend of art, ecology, and adventure. Its evolving underwater gallery, colorful marine life, and innovative conservation purpose make it one of Grenada’s most distinctive and internationally recognized attractions.
