Agriturismo Il Castello di Stertignano is set within the historic Castello di Stertignano, a medieval fortress located in the countryside near Campagnatico in Tuscany’s Maremma region.

The castle was built in the 13th century by the powerful Aldobrandeschi family and later passed through the hands of the Orlandini, Cerretani, the Republic of Siena, and eventually the Medici after Siena’s fall in the 16th century. Although the fortress gradually lost its military role, many of its original stone walls and parts of its defensive structures survived and were incorporated into the rural estate seen today.

The complex remains a notable example of medieval architecture in the Grosseto area. Today, the site operates as an agriturismo, blending historic charm with Tuscan hospitality. Surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Maremma, it offers visitors the opportunity to experience a former medieval castle while enjoying a peaceful rural setting.
