Belvedere Marittimo is a small coastal town in the province of Cosenza, in the Calabria region of southern Italy, sitting on the Tyrrhenian Sea within the Riviera dei Cedri area.

The town is split into two main parts: an old hilltop village with narrow medieval streets and a newer seaside area, Belvedere Marina, built along the waterfront and focused on tourism and services. This upper part preserves an ancient layout, with a Norman‑style castle dating back to the 11th century, old gateways, and several churches, while the beachfront offers long stretches of pebble and sandy shore with clear water and relatively uncrowded lidos.

Belvedere Marittimo is also known as the “Città dell’Amore” or “town of love” because the local Capuchin convent houses relics of Saint Valentine, including a vial said to contain his blood and bone fragments, drawing couples who come to celebrate love and weddings around Valentine’s Day.

The town combines a relaxed, family‑friendly seaside atmosphere with historic charm and traditional Calabrian food, markets, and summer festivals, making it a quieter alternative to larger nearby resorts such as Diamante and Scalea.
