Borluut Castle
Ghent, Belgium
Borluut Castle, located in Sint-Denijs-Westrem near Ghent, Belgium, traces its roots back to at least the early 15th century as the ancestral seat of the Borluut family.
The current building was significantly redeveloped in the 19th century under the ownership of Count Balthazar Borluut d'Hoogstraete, who transformed it into a summer residence, while its recognizable tower was added in 1914.
Having changed hands several times, the castle and its English-style park became public property and are now used for cultural purposes, with artist studios and event spaces inside; the site has been a protected heritage monument since 1997 and still retains much of its historical charm.
