Casal de' Pazzi is a well-known prehistoric archaeological site in Rome that preserves evidence of life from around 200,000 years ago, long before the rise of ancient Rome.

Discovered during construction work in 1981, the site revealed an ancient riverbed containing thousands of fossils, stone tools, and traces of early human activity. Today, the area is protected within the Museum of Casal de' Pazzi, where visitors can see remains of prehistoric animals such as elephants, hippopotamuses, rhinoceroses, and giant deer, along with artifacts connected to early humans.

The museum uses exhibits and reconstructions to recreate the environment of the Pleistocene era. Casal de' Pazzi offers a fascinating glimpse into Rome’s distant natural and human history, making it one of the city’s most important sites for understanding prehistoric life in central Italy.
