Castello di Compiano - Collezioni Museali
Italy, Italy
Castello di Compiano - Collezioni Museali is a medieval castle in the Parma Apennines, located in the picturesque village of Compiano.
Built before the year 1000 and developed over many centuries, it served as a fortress, noble residence, state prison, and later a private estate of Marchesa Lina Raimondi Gambarotta. Today, the castle houses several museum collections, including the preserved apartments of the Marchesa, filled with period furniture, artworks, and decorative objects that reflect aristocratic life.
It also contains the International Masonic Museum, one of the few museums of its kind in Italy, along with other cultural and historical exhibits. Surrounded by panoramic views of the Taro Valley, the castle offers visitors a unique combination of history, architecture, and museum experiences. Its well-preserved towers, courtyards, and elegant interiors make it one of the most significant heritage attractions in the Parma region.
