Castello di Grazzano Visconti
Grazzano Visconti, Italy, Italy
Castello di Grazzano Visconti is a picturesque medieval castle in the Piacenza area of Emilia-Romagna, originally built in 1395 by Giovanni Anguissola following his marriage to Beatrice Visconti, sister of the Duke of Milan.
Over the centuries, it served as a fortress, noble residence, and center of local power, surviving wars, attacks, and political struggles. In the early 20th century, Duke Giuseppe Visconti di Modrone restored and transformed the castle and the surrounding village in a romantic neo-medieval style, creating the unique atmosphere that exists today.
Still owned by the Visconti family, the castle is renowned for its historic rooms, beautiful park, rich heritage, and its connection to filmmaker Luchino Visconti.
