Castello di Montecuccolo is a medieval hilltop castle located near Pavullo nel Frignano in the Modena Apennines of Emilia-Romagna.

First mentioned in documents in 1027, it was the stronghold of the noble Montecuccoli family and occupies a strategic position overlooking the surrounding valleys and routes through the mountains. The castle is especially famous as the birthplace of Raimondo Montecuccoli, one of Europe’s most renowned 17th-century military commanders.

Built largely of stone, it features defensive walls, towers, historic halls, and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Carefully restored and now open to the public, the castle houses museums and art collections that explore local history, culture, and nature. Together with its adjoining medieval village, it is one of the most important historical attractions in the Modena Apennines.
