Castello di San Pietro in Cerro is a remarkably well-preserved 15th-century castle in the Piacenza countryside, built by Bartolomeo Barattieri on the site of an earlier medieval fortress.

The castle remained in the hands of the Barattieri family for centuries, helping preserve its original character as a fortified noble residence. Its square layout, entrance keep, round towers, drawbridge features, and elegant arcaded courtyard make it one of the finest examples of a Renaissance-era castle in Emilia-Romagna.

Today, the castle is known not only for its historical architecture and furnished rooms but also for its cultural attractions, including a large collection of arms, an exhibition inspired by the Terracotta Warriors of Xi’an, a historic library, and the Museum in Motion (MIM), which showcases contemporary art. This unique blend of history, art, and culture makes it one of the most distinctive castles in the Piacenza region.
