Castelnuovo in the Province of Arezzo, Italy, is a historic fortress with origins dating back over a thousand years, initially centered around a tower built around 1000 A.D. The site played significant roles in medieval military history, including serving as a base for Sienese troops during a prolonged siege in 1199.

Over the centuries, the castle evolved through various ownerships and architectural changes, notably in the 1500s when Cardinal Tancredi commissioned the construction of the villa and chapel, which features work by the architect and painter Baldassare Peruzzi. The castle also experienced occupation during World War II by German troops.

Structurally, it retains its characteristic medieval and Renaissance presence, with a mix of fortifications and residential elements set amidst a classic Tuscan landscape.
